Sausage rolls are a practical and delicious snack, perfect for parties or a quick snack. This is a recipe that is very popular in bars and restaurants in Brazil. Perfect to be enjoyed with a cold drink, or to serve on any occasion. Here is a simple and tasty recipe to prepare this delicious treat whenever you want!
Ingredients
- 8 sausages
- 1 packet of pastry dough or puff pastry (approximately 400g)
- 1 beaten egg (for brushing)
- 1 tablespoon grated cheese (optional, for sprinkling)
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
- Ketchup and mustard for serving (optional)
Preparation:
- Prepare the Sausages:
- If the sausages are too large, cut them in half to make them smaller and easier to roll. If you prefer, you can quickly blanch them in hot water for 2-3 minutes to make them juicier and have a better texture.
- Prepare the Dough:
- If using pastry dough, cut it into rectangular strips about 2 inches wide and 4 inches long. If using puff pastry, thaw it according to the package instructions and cut into similar strips.
- Rolling the Sausages:
- Place a sausage on a strip of dough and roll it up, covering the sausage completely. Make sure the ends of the dough are sealed tightly to prevent the filling from escaping during cooking.
- Repeat the process with all the sausages and dough strips.
- Prepare for Baking:
- Preheat oven to 200°C (390°F).
- Place the rolls on a baking tray lined with parchment paper or greased with a little oil.
- Brush each roll with beaten egg to give it a golden, shiny finish.
- If desired, sprinkle with grated cheese and sesame seeds for an extra touch of flavor and crunch.
- To bake:
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until golden and crispy.
- To serve:
- Serve the sausage rolls hot, accompanied by ketchup, mustard or other sauces of your choice.
Tips
- For a variation, you can add some grated cheese or chopped bacon to the dough before rolling the sausages.
- If you prefer a healthier snack, you can use whole wheat pasta or even make homemade pasta.
