Ingredients

  • 500g ground beef (rump, chuck or your preference)
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 chopped garlic cloves
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley
  • 1/4 cup chopped chives
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (or breadcrumbs)
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon cumin (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika or sweet paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste.
  • Olive oil (for spraying)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Mixture:
    • In a large bowl, combine ground beef, onion, garlic, parsley, and chives.
    • Add the egg, breadcrumbs, parmesan cheese (if using), cumin, paprika, salt and black pepper.
    • Mix well until all ingredients are well incorporated. If the mixture is too wet, add a little more breadcrumbs until it becomes firmer.
  2. Shape the Dumplings:
    • Shape the mixture into small balls or croquettes, about 3-4 cm in diameter. You can use your hands or two spoons to form the balls.
  3. Preheat Air Fryer:
    • Preheat the air fryer to 180°C for 5 minutes.
  4. Cook the Dumplings:
    • Place the dumplings in the air fryer basket, arranging them in a single layer. If necessary, cook in batches to avoid overcrowding the basket.
    • Drizzle a little olive oil over the dumplings to help make them crispier.
    • Cook at 180°C for 12-15 minutes, turning the dumplings halfway through to ensure they brown and crisp evenly.
  5. Finish and serve:
    • Remove the dumplings from the air fryer and let them cool slightly before serving. They are great on their own or with a dipping sauce like ketchup, mayonnaise or barbecue sauce.

Tips

  • To add an extra touch of flavor, you can include spices like oregano, thyme, or even a little cayenne pepper into the mix.
  • If you prefer a juicier dumpling, add a little cheese to the center of each dumpling before shaping.
