Baked Mini Donuts

The donuts are American confectionery classics that have taken the world by storm, usually fried, with colorful toppings and a variety of fillings. But if you're looking for a lighter, more practical version, the mini baked doughnuts are the ideal choice. Fluffy, tasty and baked in the oven (no frying!), they are perfect for those who want a charming sweet treat without giving up lightness.

Easy to make and versatile in decoration, mini baked doughnuts are ideal for parties, children's lunchboxes, specialty coffees or even to sell.

Ingredients (yields about 24 mini donuts)

  • 1 cup wheat flour
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • Oil or butter to grease the pan

Preparation:

1. Preheat the oven:

  • AT 180 °C. Grease a mini donut pan with butter or cooking spray.

2. Prepare the dough:

  1. In a bowl, mix the flour, sugar, yeast and salt.
  2. In another bowl, beat the egg with the milk, vanilla essence and melted butter.
  3. Add the liquid ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until you obtain a homogeneous mass (you don't need to beat too much).

3. Shape:

  • Using a spoon or piping bag, distribute the dough into the cavities of the mini doughnut mould, filling only halfway.

4. Bake:

  • Bake for 8 to 10 minutesor until they are lightly browned and firm to the touch.
  • Leave to cool for a few minutes before unmolding.

Topping suggestions

Once cool, you can decorate the doughnuts with a variety of toppings:

Chocolate coating:

  • 100 g melted semi-sweet chocolate + 1 tablespoon heavy cream. Dip the doughnuts and finish with confetti.

Simple icing:

  • Mix 1/2 cup of icing sugar with 1 to 2 tablespoons of milk. Add food coloring if you like.

Sugar with cinnamon:

  • Dip the still warm doughnuts in melted butter and then in a mixture of sugar and cinnamon.

Extra Tips

  • Silicone mold makes it much easier to unmold.
  • Stuffed? Use a piping nozzle to inject dulce de leche or cream into the doughnuts after baking.
