Chocolate truffles are a delicious and sophisticated dessert that you can easily prepare at home. They are easily found at birthday and wedding parties and are often given as party favors. Many people use truffles for their own business, even selling this delicious treat on the street. Children love this type of candy and it can be made with a variety of filling options. Here you will learn a practical and super easy recipe. Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 200 g of chopped semisweet or bittersweet chocolate
  • 100 g of cream
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract (optional)
  • Cocoa powder, chocolate chips, or powdered sugar for coating truffles

Preparation:

  • In a heatproof bowl, place the chopped chocolate.
  • Heat the cream in a small saucepan until it begins to boil. Pour the hot cream over the chopped chocolate.
  • Let the chocolate sit for 2 minutes to melt. Then, stir well until you get a smooth, creamy mixture.
  • Add the butter and vanilla extract (if using) to the chocolate mixture. Stir until the butter is completely melted and incorporated into the chocolate.
  • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 2 hours, or until the mixture is firm enough to be shaped.
  • Using a teaspoon or a baller, take small portions of the mixture and shape them into balls with your hands. If the mixture is too firm, you can let it soften a little outside of the refrigerator for a few minutes before shaping.
  • Roll the chocolate balls in cocoa powder, chocolate sprinkles, or powdered sugar to coat them. You can also use colored sprinkles or shredded coconut if you prefer.
  • Place the truffles on a plate or gift box lined with parchment paper. Store in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Truffles will stay fresh for up to 1 week in the refrigerator.

Tips

  • For Truffles with Flavor Variations: You can add essences, such as orange, coffee, or almond, to give it a special touch. Just mix it into the ganache before refrigerating.
  • Milk or White Chocolate Truffles: You can replace the semisweet chocolate with milk or white chocolate, adjusting the cooling time and toppings according to taste.
