Baked Oven Pastry

If you love pastries but prefer to avoid fried foods, oven cake It is the perfect option. With a light and crispy dough, it can be filled in many ways, such as meat, chicken, cheese, vegetables, and still maintain its irresistible flavor. Ideal for snacks, parties or even as a light meal, this recipe combines flavor, practicality and a homemade touch.

Ingredients

Weight:

  • 3 cups (tea) of wheat flour
  • 150 g butter or margarine
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup (tea) of milk
  • 1 tablespoon (tea) of salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder (optional, to make it lighter)

Filling (suggestion of ground meat):

  • 300 g ground beef
  • 1/2 chopped onion
  • 1 clove of garlic, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons tomato sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste.
  • Green smell to taste
  • Olive oil for sautéing

To brush:

  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tablespoon of milk

Preparation:

Weight:

  1. In a large bowl, mix the wheat flour and salt.
  2. Add the butter and mix with your fingertips until it forms a crumbly mixture.
  3. Add the egg, milk and, if desired, yeast.
  4. Mix well until you obtain a smooth, homogeneous dough. If necessary, add more flour little by little.
  5. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 20 to 30 minutes to rest.

Filling:

  1. In a pan, heat a dash of olive oil and sauté the onion and garlic until golden.
  2. Add the ground beef and cook until very loose.
  3. Add the tomato sauce, salt, pepper and finish with the parsley.
  4. Allow to cool completely before filling.

Assembly:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 °C.
  2. Roll out the dough on a floured surface until it is about 0.5 cm thick.
  3. Cut into circles or rectangles (as you prefer).
  4. Place a portion of filling on each piece of dough, fold in half and close by pressing the edges with a fork.
  5. Place the pastries on a greased baking sheet or lined with parchment paper.
  6. Brush with the egg yolk and milk mixture.
  7. Bake for about 25 to 30 minutes, or until golden brown.

Tips:

  • Try fillings like chicken with catupiry, cheese with ham, creamy hearts of palm, or even sweet versions with banana and cinnamon.
  • For a whole wheat dough, replace half of the white flour with whole wheat flour.
