Who doesn't love crispy, tasty French fries? Now, imagine being able to enjoy this delicious treat in a healthier way, without using too much oil and with fewer calories. With the Airfryer, you can prepare homemade French fries that are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, with much more convenience and without sacrificing flavor! Let's learn how to make this French fries recipe in the Airfryer!

Ingredients:

  • 4 medium potatoes (preferably English potatoes or frying potatoes)
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons olive oil or coconut oil (optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • Additional seasonings (optional): garlic powder, onion powder, rosemary, oregano, paprika or any seasoning of your choice

Directions:

  1. Choose and prepare the potatoes: Wash the potatoes thoroughly to remove any dirt. You can choose to leave the skin on or remove it, depending on your preference. Then, cut the potatoes into thin sticks (the size of traditional French fries). The thinner the sticks, the crispier they will be!
  2. Soak the potatoes (optional, but recommended): To make the potatoes even crispier, you can soak them in cold water for about 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch and give them a crispier texture. After this time, dry the potatoes thoroughly with a clean dish towel or paper towel.
  3. Season the potatoes: Place the dried potatoes in a large bowl and add the olive oil or coconut oil. Stir well so that all of the potatoes are lightly coated with the oil. Then add the salt, black pepper, and any additional seasonings you desire. Stir again so that the seasonings are evenly distributed.
  4. Preheat the Airfryer: Preheat the Airfryer to 180°C for about 3 to 5 minutes. This helps ensure that the potatoes are crispy from the start of cooking.
  5. Shape the potatoes in the Airfryer basket: Place the potatoes in the Airfryer basket, but do not overcrowd them, to ensure they are evenly distributed and cook evenly. If necessary, do this in two or more batches, depending on the size of your Airfryer.
  6. Bake the potatoes: Cook the potatoes at 180°C for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring halfway through so that they brown and crisp evenly. The time may vary depending on the thickness of the sticks and the make/model of your Airfryer, so keep an eye on them so they don't burn. If you prefer your potatoes crispier, increase the cooking time.
  7. Finalization: When the potatoes are golden and crispy, remove from the Airfryer and serve immediately. If necessary, adjust the salt before serving.

Tips for Variation:

  • Creative spices: Try adding fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme for a more sophisticated flavor. Garlic powder, onion powder, and even paprika are all options that can transform your plain fries into a flavor-packed treat.
  • Sweet potato: If you want an even more nutritious version, replace the regular potato with sweet potato. The preparation is the same, and the sweet potato has a slightly sweet flavor, in addition to being rich in vitamins and fiber.
  • Crispy chips: If you want thinner, crispier potatoes, cut them into very thin chips and reduce the cooking time to about 10 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent burning.

Benefits:

  • Less fat: By using the Airfryer, you considerably reduce the amount of oil, making the fries lighter and healthier.
  • Practicality: Preparing fries in the Airfryer is much faster than in hot oil, and you also save on oil.
  • Customizable: With the possibility of adding different seasonings, you can customize your fries to your taste, making the recipe even more special.
  • Healthier option: Using olive oil or coconut oil, Airfryer fries become a healthier option than traditional frying, without losing the crunchy and delicious flavor.

With this recipe for homemade French fries in the Airfryer, you will have a practical, delicious and healthy option for your snack or even to accompany a meal. Enjoy the crunchiness and irresistible flavor of this lighter version of a beloved classic!
