Ingredients
Weight:
- 3 cups (tea) of wheat flour
- 150 g butter or margarine
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup (tea) of milk
- 1 tablespoon (tea) of salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder (optional, to make it lighter)
Filling (suggestion of ground meat):
- 300 g ground beef
- 1/2 chopped onion
- 1 clove of garlic, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons tomato sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste.
- Green smell to taste
- Olive oil for sautéing
To brush:
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 tablespoon of milk
Preparation:
Weight:
- In a large bowl, mix the wheat flour and salt.
- Add the butter and mix with your fingertips until it forms a crumbly mixture.
- Add the egg, milk and, if desired, yeast.
- Mix well until you obtain a smooth, homogeneous dough. If necessary, add more flour little by little.
- Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 20 to 30 minutes to rest.
Filling:
- In a pan, heat a dash of olive oil and sauté the onion and garlic until golden.
- Add the ground beef and cook until very loose.
- Add the tomato sauce, salt, pepper and finish with the parsley.
- Allow to cool completely before filling.
Assembly:
- Preheat the oven to 180 °C.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface until it is about 0.5 cm thick.
- Cut into circles or rectangles (as you prefer).
- Place a portion of filling on each piece of dough, fold in half and close by pressing the edges with a fork.
- Place the pastries on a greased baking sheet or lined with parchment paper.
- Brush with the egg yolk and milk mixture.
- Bake for about 25 to 30 minutes, or until golden brown.

- Try fillings like chicken with catupiry, cheese with ham, creamy hearts of palm, or even sweet versions with banana and cinnamon.
- For a whole wheat dough, replace half of the white flour with whole wheat flour.
