To sardine pie it is one of the classics of brazilian cuisine. Present at the festivities of the family, a picnic or snacks in the late afternoon, it is a practical, nutritional, economic, and, most of all, it's full of flavor.

Made with simple ingredients, budget-friendly, this cake is a great way to turn what you have in your pantry into a full meal, with a soft dough and the filling is rich and warm.

Ingredients

For the filling:

  • 2 cans of sardines in oil or tomato sauce (drained and cleaned)
  • 1 medium onion bite
  • 2 tomatoes seeded, finely chopped
  • 1/2 pepper diced (optional)
  • 1 spoon (soup) of tomato paste
  • 1/4 cup olive chopped
  • 1 spoon (soup) of olive oil
  • Salt, black pepper and parsley to taste.

For the dough:

  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cups - wheat flour
  • 1 spoon (soup) of yeast chemical powder,
  • 1 tsp. salt

Preparation:

1. Prepare the filling

In a separate pan, heat the olive oil and sauté the onion until it becomes transparent. Stir in the tomato paste, paprika, and tomato paste. Cook, covered, for 3 minutes, stirring well.

Add the sardines, shredded, for the black olives and sprinkle with sea salt, pepper, and parsley. Stir-fry for a few more minutes, until the filling becomes the well-mixed. The book and let it cool down for a bit.

2. Prepare the dough

In a blender, beat together the eggs, milk, oil, and salt to taste. Then, add in the flour gradually, beating until you get a homogeneous mixture. Finally, add the yeast and stir lightly with a spoon, or get up quickly.

3. Assemble the pie

Lightly grease a cookie sheet from the media in oil or butter, and flour. Pour half of the dough, spread the filling evenly, and cover with the remaining batter.

4. Bake in the oven

Bake in the oven to preheat to the 356 °F for some of the 35 to 45 min.or until the cake is golden brown on top and firm to the touch.

5. Serve

Allow it to cool a little before slicing. Serve warm or cold with a green salad, or juice.

Changes

  • A filling vegetarian: Replace the sardines for stewed vegetables such as carrots, corn, and green peas.
  • The cheese on top of it: Sprinkle a little shredded cheese before you put in the oven for a golden crust.
  • (Full version): Use half of the white flour, and half-full in the dough.
